A triptych of recordings; In the glass, in the lens & in the palantír. These are three tracks made from a group of samples designed back at the turn of the century, Y2K. Originally the tracks were titled; in the water, in the air & in the space, but so long as I am attempting to modernize, updated titles were in order. The tracks are composed of layered samples created on the Akai S5000 sampler. I have upgraded my S5000 to an internal SCSI hard drive and works great as a long form audio sampler with a compelling final sound. So that the Akai S5000 can be used in a modern capacity you will need to upgrade the sampler to an internal SCSI disk. You can install a large enough hard drive into the sampler to save, store & edit large samples and use it as a tool in today's higher definition recordings. Though I would suggest you purchase an older drive that doesn't exceed 500mb. None of these tracks use puredata, nor would I place them in the generative genre. The tracks are more soundscape recordings. The modulation effect heard on the track "in the lens" was performed on the modular synth.

In The Glass

Reflections can be windows!

In The Lens

When the camera lens is dirty, all you see are distorted images.

In The Palantir

"...the Eye turned inward, pondering tidings of doubt and danger: a bright sword a stern and kingly face it saw..." - Tolkien
